Grade 8 Recertification Referee Clinic

Grade 8 Referee - Entry Level Training is now OPEN for registration!

Any player or adult interested in becoming a USSF-certified referee should go on-line to the Connecticut State Referee Program's website right now
and sign up for their Grade 8 Referee Entry Level Training.

There have been major changes to the Referee Entry Level Training program. In the past, candidates were expected to attend seven separate clinics
before being certified. Now, it's only necessary to sucessfully complete an on-line course of instruction and attend a one-day Saturday clinic to obtain
your USSF Referee license and be qualified to officiate West Hartford Soccer Association boys and girls Recreational and Travel games.

In the spring season, even though we do not have a full Recreational program (just our Training and Mites Division programs are active), our spring
Travel program is quite extensive. There's also West Hartford Women's League games to consider.

There are two Referee Game Assignors in West Hartford who are responsible for assigning referees for all boys and girls Recreational games,
girls Travel games, boys Travel games and West Hartford Women's League games.

All in all then, a lot of games are played in the spring and we are in constant need of qualified referees to officiate them. This is particularly true
of our Travel games where a certified Center Referee and two certified Assistant Referees are needed for every game. As you can see, there
will be plenty of refereeing opportunities this spring, particularly for those with the proper referee credentials. That's so because in almost every
case when making game assignments, first preference is given to USSF-certified referees.
